In this case, this high end product isn't even really that expensive. In fact, I think my drugstore go-to product is a little more expensive. That doesn't necessarily mean it's better than my drugstore brand. Some might think it is, but I do not.
vs.
Today, I'm comparing Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Hypoallergenic Pre-Moistened Facial Towelettes to Clean & Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Wipes.
The Yes to Cucumbers brand is fairly new (to me) & I've only seen the product in my local Ulta store. I purchased the 10ct. travel pack from the impulse section on a whim because I wanted to try them. I'm pretty sure I paid close to $3 for the pack, which in comparison to the full size 30ct pack from Ulta at $6.99 (roughly 23¢ a wipe), it wasn't worth it. At all. I liked the fact that they are not even remotely oily at all. Not even a little. They leave your face feeling clean & refreshed. I didn't like the scent. They are tru to their name, by all means, & smell exactly like you're rubbing a freshly cut cucumber on your face. Some of you might like this, but I don't. I like my beauty products to smell "perfumey" & this is not what I got with these wipes. I was hoping for a more cucumber-melon scent. As far as makeup removing goes, I think these wipes will work great for those who wear little to no makeup at all. For people like me, who wear a full face of brown eyeshadows & black eyeliner, with black mascara, not so much. I had to use two wipes to remove what I could, then still had to scrub my eyes in the shower with soap. Which is exactly what I've been looking to avoid.
The Clean & Clear brand has been around forever. They've held a spot in my beauty routine for a long time now. The makeup removing wipes work fantastically, & I almost never have to use another type of cleanser. The one thing I don't like about the brand is that regardless of the fact the package says "oil-free", they still leave behind an oily/greasy residue on my face. If can be easily removed by quickly rinsing my face with plain water, but the whole idea is that I shouldn't have to do that. The scent of these are a little more perfumey, but nothing fancy. I honestly couldn't even describe what they smell like right off hand. The price of these wipes are a little bit more expensive. Ulta carries a 25ct pack also for $6.99 (about 28¢ a wipe). I've never seen a difference in acne treatment goes, however. My face will break out regardless of what products I use, because I'm a girl & Mother Nature hates me. ;P The only problem I run into with this brand is that randomly I won't be able to find them, anywhere. Sometimes I can only find them at Walmart, & sometimes they're no where to be found. Which is the main reason I've had to "branch out" & try a new brand.
So in a nutshell, if you're looking for an everyday face wipe to remove light dirt & makeup, Yes to Cucmbers is your brand. If you need something that can remove heavy makeup & doesn't smell like a fresh cucumber being rubbed all over your face, then I suggest the Clean & Clear brand. Although the Yes to Cucumbers brand is slightly less expensive, if you're like me, then you'll have to use more than one wipe at a time, & it won't be worth it for you.
